Seb Black is a queer trans artist, illustrator, and writer living in Victoria, BC, Canada, and previously in Vancouver, Canada and London, UK. He draws and paints by hand using traditional mediums.
Seb’s fashion illustrations focuses on menswear, and his lifestyle illustrations in the city and urban living. In his artistic work, he’s interested in gender and masculinity and gender expression, as well as social issues such as class and the cost of living crisis.
His artwork is inspired by fashion illustration, street art, and his creative writing work. Seb works in mixed media, often using gouache, watercolours, inks, colour pencils, pastels, and acrylics.
He has a background in heritage, design, and museums. In his work with museums and galleries, he has worked with brands such as the Design Museum, Hussein Chalayan, V&A, Paul Smith, Beefeater Gin, Viktor & Rolf, and Formula 1.
