I’m happy to be in Vancouver for Vancouver Fashion Week (Apr 23-28, 2024). I packed my bags, a ton of art supplies, and came over from Victoria for live event illustration of the runway shows over the weekend.

I loved all the amazing designers who showcased their work at Vancouver Fashion Week. I had a lot of fun sketching the models and the guests too. I’ll be sharing posts over the next few days to share more of my illustrations from the show when I’m reunited with my scanner.

It’s been a whirlwind few days and I’ve been posting on Instagram, especially on my Stories with daily sketches of the shows and guests. Waiting in the line to get in meant lots of great people watching and guest looks. Even the classic Vancouver rain couldn’t dampen the excitement.

I’m a mixed media illustrator and artist, and this week I tried to keep it simple with ink pens and coloured pencils for the most part. When models walk the runway, I only have a few seconds to capture the look. Even so, I couldn’t help pack some watercolour paints and soft pastels too. But dry mediums are a lot easier to handle on site. I can’t wait to do some finished pieces though from some of my favourite looks.
